Bakers Against Racism

Friends! I’m joining thousands of amateur and professional bakers across the nation to host a Bakers Against Racism bake sale. All proceeds from my sale will go to National Black Food and Justice Alliance —- a collection of organizations aimed at reversing Black land loss, preventing food insecurity in Black communities, and promoting the work of Black farmers, which is often underreported and underrepresented. Each participating baker is choosing his/her/their own organization to which they will send the majority of their proceeds. Check out the #bakersagainstracism hashtag to see other delicious offerings from participating bakers.

WHAT: My main offering will be my semi-famous Molasses Ginger Cookies. Chewy, soft, spicy, salty-sweet nuggets of goodness. Seriously, these are the most popular thing I make for gifts and parties. Ingredients include shortening, sugar, flour, baking soda, salt, eggs, ginger, cloves, and cinnamon. No nuts in these cookies! 15 cookies for $15 (not including shipping) SOLD OUT

I’m also going to auction off ONE Rhubarb Upside-Down Cake. Isn’t it just beautiful? The cake itself is a standard vanilla cake. This is baked on top of a rhubarb/brown sugar/butter mixture that looks like a work of art. Because I can’t mail this gorgeous cake, the auction is limited to the DC Metro Area. Just submit a bid for any amount between June 15th and June 19th. I will post daily updates on this blog post and on Instagram/FB about the bidding in case you want to up your bid.

WHEN: Pre-sales open 12:01am EST June 15th and remain open until midnight EST June 19th. Pick-up/Delivery/Shipping on June 20th.

WHERE: I’m happy to deliver orders within a 10 mile radius of 11620 Monument Dr, Fairfax, VA 22030. All others can pick up their orders between 12pm and 1pm EST Saturday 6/20 (precise location details to be sent to those who request pick-up). If you don’t live in the DC Metro Area but would still like to participate in my bake sale, please feel free to place an order for someone you know in the DC Metro Area or as a gift I can pass along to a member of my community – someone who could use a little lovin’ 🙂

HOW: Use my contact page or send me a DM on Instagram to place an order and indicate your pick-up/delivery/ship preference. I’m accepting payments via Paypal (tcravy [at] gmail [dot] com) and Venmo (@Tawnya-Azar). Once I’ve received your order request and payment, I will send an email to confirm. Please contact me if you don’t receive this email within 24 hours of placing your order!
